We are the Volusia United Educators - Retired. Our organization is open to ANY retired or pre-retired member of VUE or a member of another school district, college or university from another education union in Florida or in the nation. We are an active group that has monthly meetings (except during the summer) with guest speakers from various organizations presenting matters and materials relevant to education and retirement such as political issues that affect education, retirement, social security, and Medicare. Our members are also active in their communities contributing many volunteer hours to schools, churches, civic and other community organizations. In addition, we provide an annual grant/ scholarship opportunity for current Volusia County teachers to enhance their classroom learning environment. We are part of the Central Labor Council of Volusia and Flagler Counties. We have representation at FLARA (Florida Alliance for Retired Americans), a branch of the national Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA). We are members of the Florida Education Association, National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers.
